State Representative | Business Leader | Champion for Healthcare, Small Business, and Louisiana’s Future Born and raised in the heart of Northeast Louisiana, Michael Echols is a tireless advocate for building a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Louisiana. Representing District 14 in the Louisiana House of Representatives, Michael blends real-world business experience with bold, results-driven leadership. A proud graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he earned both an Accounting degree and an MBA, Michael sharpened his financial expertise early and has used it to drive success in both the public and private sectors. As a licensed commercial and residential contractor and a respected real estate developer, he has led transformational projects that revitalize historic downtowns and promote local economic growth. In the legislature, Michael is a leading voice for healthcare reform, exposing mismanagement in hospital operations and fighting to ensure that healthcare delivery in Louisiana is built on transparency, ethics, and patient-centered outcomes. He has championed efforts to strengthen patient protections, expand access to specialty care, and better align state resources to support rural and underserved communities. Michael is equally committed to economic development and small business empowerment. His initiatives support infrastructure investment, historic preservation, housing expansion, and the removal of regulatory barriers to growth. His dedication to Louisiana’s entrepreneurs was nationally recognized with the 2025 NFIB Small Business Champion Award. Michael has also been entrusted with major leadership roles within the Louisiana legislature, including: -Secretary and Treasurer of the House Republican Caucus Executive Committee -Executive Committee Member for the Joint House and Senate Republican PAC (two terms) His leadership positions underscore the deep trust his colleagues have placed in him to help guide Louisiana’s legislative priorities. Outside of his legislative work, Michael’s commitment to service extends throughout the community. He has proudly served as: -President of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra -President of the Monroe Kiwanis Club -Chairman of the Louisiana State Arts Council -Founding Board Member of the Northeast Louisiana Center for Children and Families -President of the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation Through these volunteer efforts, Michael has championed cultural preservation, youth services, family support initiatives, and the protection of Louisiana’s historic heritage. His leadership and service have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Top 20 Under 40 Award, the James Shipp Young Business Leader Award, the Passion for Culture Award from the Lt. Governor, and national selection to GOPAC’s National Emerging Leaders Program. At home, Michael is a devoted husband to Christie Echols, a respected architect and developer, and a proud father to daughters Amelia and Everly. Together, the Echols family is deeply committed to preserving and advancing the future of Louisiana. Michael also shares his insight and passion for public service with listeners as the longtime host of “Echols @ Eight” on KMLB, where he delivers common-sense conservative commentary on the issues shaping Louisiana’s future.
