Burger King is set to defend its Whopper ads in federal court after a group of customers sued for fraud, claiming the fast-food giant misrepresented the size of its burgers. The lawsuit alleges that Burger King’s commercials exaggerated the size of the Whopper, showing it with oversized patties and overflowing ingredients to make it appear significantly larger than what customers actually received. While Burger King argues that its advertisements were only meant to highlight the burger’s appeal and used the same beef patties in ads as in-store, the judge ruled that the case warrants further examination. The outcome of this legal battle could have wide implications for how fast-food chains market their products.
