The Powerball jackpot has soared to $1.1 billion—the fifth-largest in the game’s history—after no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing. With the next drawing set for Labor Day, a winner could claim the full annuitized prize paid over 30 years or opt for a one-time cash payout of $498.4 million before taxes. It’s been three months since the last jackpot win, driving ticket sales to new highs. While the odds of hitting the jackpot remain 1 in 292.2 million, the game continues to create million-dollar winners and has generated more than $36 billion for good causes since its start in 1992.
