Washington Lawmakers Denounce Minnesota Political Violence, Call for Unity

In the wake of the tragic assassination of Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and the attempted assassinations of Senator John Hoffman and his wife, legislative leaders from all four Washington State caucuses have come together to issue a rare joint statement condemning political violence. Expressing deep sympathy for the victims and their families, the bipartisan message underscores the urgent need for unity, decency, and the protection of democracy. “We are Americans before we are Democrats, Republicans, or Independents,” the statement reads, urging all citizens to reject violence and support law enforcement efforts.
