Nine Kentucky Senators Honored with Outstanding Legislative Service Award

The Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP) has recognized nine members of the Kentucky Senate with its 2025 Outstanding Legislative Service Award, applauding their leadership and commitment to strengthening public safety across the commonwealth.

This year’s honorees include Senate Majority Floor Leader Max Wise (Campbellsville), Senate Majority Caucus Chair Robby Mills (Henderson), Sen. Shelley Funke Frommeyer (Alexandria), Sen. Michael Nemes (Shepherdsville), Sen. Steve Rawlings (Burlington), Sen. Scott Madon (Pineville), Sen. Matt Nunn (Georgetown), Sen. Jimmy Higdon (Lebanon), and Sen. Matthew Deneen (Elizabethtown).

The annual award is presented to legislators who demonstrate exceptional service in advancing policies that support law enforcement and protect Kentucky communities. According to KACP, the 2025 legislative session marked one of the most impactful in recent memory for the law enforcement community.

“This year’s awardees were instrumental in championing legislation that supports our officers, protects our communities, and addresses the needs of law enforcement agencies across the commonwealth,” said Chief Shawn Butler (Ret.), KACP executive director. “Their leadership reflects a strong, ongoing commitment to public safety.”

The senators played key roles in advancing measures to modernize personnel policies, improve benefits for officers, safeguard sensitive information, and secure funding for essential equipment and training. KACP noted these actions will have lasting benefits for both law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

The Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police works in partnership with the Kentucky League of Cities and police departments statewide to promote collaboration and policy initiatives that enhance public safety.
