Morning Brew, Better Mood: Study Confirms Coffee’s Daily Boost

Coffee lovers, rejoice — science confirms what your morning ritual already tells you. A new study from Bielefeld University in Germany and the University of Warwick in England found that regular caffeine drinkers feel happier and more enthusiastic after their morning cup, with the mood boost lasting up to two and a half hours. The effect was strongest in the morning, when participants reported feeling more positive and less sad compared to days they skipped their brew. Researchers say caffeine’s power comes from blocking adenosine receptors, which increases dopamine activity and improves alertness. While experts recommend keeping intake under 400 milligrams a day, the research adds to evidence that coffee not only fuels our mornings but also may protect against chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
