Arizona’s Quang Nguyen Wins Legislator of the Year Award

State Representative Quang Nguyen of Arizona has been nationally recognized for his work defending the Second Amendment. On Saturday, Nguyen, who chairs the Arizona House Judiciary Committee, was named Legislator of the Year at the 40th Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC) in Salt Lake City.
Recognition From the Second Amendment Foundation
The award was presented by the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), a leading national organization dedicated to preserving the right to keep and bear arms. SAF founder Alan Gottlieb praised Nguyen as a principled and tireless public servant. “Since his first day in office, Representative Nguyen has stood as a stalwart voice for your rights and mine,” Gottlieb said. “He has shaped debates, held the line, and defended freedoms against those who would erode them incrementally.”
A Gathering of Leaders in Firearms Policy
The Gun Rights Policy Conference, founded by Gottlieb, has been held annually for 40 years. The 2025 event brought together legal scholars, policymakers, industry leaders, and advocates. Panels covered firearms policy, recent court cases, and the future of the Second Amendment. Arizona House Speaker Steve Montenegro and Representative Nick Kupper also attended, with Montenegro featured in a Fireside Chat moderated by Mark Walters of Armed America Radio.
Nguyen’s Record and Pledge for the Future
For Nguyen, the award reflects both past achievements and ongoing commitment. “It is an incredible honor to be recognized by the Second Amendment Foundation,” he said. “I will always defend the Constitution as written and protect Arizonans’ right to self-defense.” Nguyen also thanked Speaker Montenegro and Representative Kupper for their support, pledging that House Republicans will continue leading on gun rights in Arizona.
Legislative Leadership in Arizona
First elected in 2020, Nguyen has built a record centered on constitutional law, criminal justice, and public safety. As Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, he has been at the forefront of legislation protecting and expanding firearms rights. His efforts have drawn national attention, positioning him as a significant voice in debates over constitutional freedoms.
Arizona’s Prominence in the Gun Rights Debate
Arizona Republicans used the event to emphasize the state’s role in national conversations on firearms legislation. Nguyen’s recognition highlights Arizona’s influence in shaping Second Amendment policy. For supporters, his award signals the importance of lawmakers who not only defend constitutional freedoms locally but also engage on the national stage.
A Distinguished Honor
The Legislator of the Year award is among the highest honors given at the GRPC. Each year, SAF recognizes lawmakers, attorneys, scholars, and grassroots advocates who have made significant contributions to the defense of gun rights. Nguyen now joins a distinguished group of recipients whose dedication has shaped the national conversation.
