A new study presented at the American Society for Nutrition’s flagship conference suggests that a simple, affordable habit—eating a daily cup of beans—could significantly lower cholesterol and reduce inflammation in people with prediabetes. Researchers found chickpeas helped improve cholesterol levels, while black beans were linked to a drop in inflammatory markers. While glucose levels stayed the same, the findings add to growing evidence that beans may be an underrated ally in the fight against heart disease and diabetes. Whether canned, dried, or frozen, adding beans to your daily diet might be one of the easiest steps you can take for better health.
