Newly released arrest papers reveal Utah prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative leader Charlie Kirk. The charges include aggravated murder, a capital offense in Utah, based on allegations that Robinson created a grave risk to others when he opened fire during Kirk’s university appearance. As the nation reels, top leaders including President Trump and Governor Spencer Cox have voiced support for the ultimate penalty. Robinson is currently being held without bail, and federal charges may still follow.
