Voices of the Future

Actors Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine are lending their legendary voices to the next wave of AI audio innovation. Both stars have inked deals with ElevenLabs, a New York-based AI company specializing in voice replication technology. McConaughey is also investing in the company, marking a deeper partnership that builds on his collaboration with ElevenLabs since its founding in 2022.

McConaughey is using ElevenLabs’ technology to create a Spanish-language edition of his storytelling newsletter, Lyrics of Livin’, narrated in his own voice. “Thanks to ElevenLabs, we can reach and connect with even more people,” McConaughey said. “Voice technology lets us look up from our screens and connect through something timeless — our voices.”

Preserving Icons, Amplifying Humanity

Meanwhile, 92-year-old Michael Caine joins ElevenLabs’ new Iconic Voice Marketplace, a platform designed to ethically license and preserve some of the world’s most recognizable voices. The marketplace allows studios, publishers, and creators to request Caine’s voice for projects such as narrations or audiobooks. Caine’s AI-generated voice can already be heard in a newly released demo reel.

“Technology is just the medium,” Caine said. “This is humanity — amplified.” He added that ElevenLabs “uses innovation not to replace humanity, but to celebrate it,” empowering the next generation of storytellers.

Innovation Meets Ethics

Other iconic voices featured on ElevenLabs’ platform include Liza Minnelli, John Wayne, Maya Angelou, Alan Turing, and Babe Ruth. CEO Mati Staniszewski called the marketplace a milestone for ethical AI, saying it “expands opportunities for studios and talent while enhancing storytelling.”

Backed by major investors like Sequoia and Andreessen Horowitz, ElevenLabs was recently valued at $6.6 billion following a $100 million tender offer — a testament to the growing power of AI in creative industries.
