Still No Answers: Pa. Congressman Pushes for Transparency One Year After Trump Assassination Attempt

A year after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Rep. Mike Kelly is still demanding answers. As chair of the House task force that investigated the 2024 attack, Kelly has remained vocal about what he calls “serious failures” in federal security planning and leadership. The bipartisan task force cited limited cooperation from the FBI and DOJ and recommended moving the Secret Service back under Treasury oversight. Kelly is now drafting legislation to do just that—insisting the public deserves full transparency about what went wrong that day and why it hasn’t been fully addressed.
