A Country Conversation Built on Stories and Songs
There is something about summer that makes classic country music feel even more at home. Maybe it is the sound of a familiar voice coming through the radio on a long drive. Maybe it is the comfort of songs that have already lived a few lives with the people who love them.
Brown, a GRAMMY-nominated, CMA and EMMY Award-winning artist and Grand Ole Opry member, has built LIVE WIRE around the music that helped shape generations of country fans. The June episode brings together live performances, career-spanning favorites and a conversation with one of country music’s most recognizable traditional voices.
John Conlee Brings the Classics
John Conlee’s voice has always carried the sound of real life. His warm baritone and plainspoken delivery helped make songs like “Rose Colored Glasses,” “Backside of Thirty,” “Friday Night Blues,” “Common Man” and “Lady Lay Down” staples of country radio.
For listeners who grew up with those songs, Conlee’s appearance is a welcome return to an era when country music often sounded like a kitchen-table conversation. For newer fans, it is a chance to hear from an artist whose catalog helped define the emotional honesty that remains at the heart of the genre.
“It’s summertime, and everyone is cranking up the tunes,” Brown shared. “This month on LIVE WIRE, I’ll be chatting with the legendary John Conlee! Don’t miss out on some great stories and music — tune in and let’s celebrate summer together!”
Live Cuts With a Wide American Sound
The June episode will feature more than conversation. LIVE WIRE will also spotlight live cuts from Don Williams, The Bellamy Brothers, David Allan Coe, John Conlee, T. Graham Brown and The Doobie Brothers.
That mix gives the show a road-trip quality, moving from country traditionalism to Southern storytelling to the broader American soundtrack that has long connected country, blues, gospel and rock. Brown has always been comfortable in that space. His own career has crossed country, gospel and blues, with more than 20 Billboard-charting singles and multiple number-one hits across genres.
Since joining SiriusXM in 2019 as host of LIVE WIRE, Brown has used the monthly program to celebrate live music and the artists behind it. The show airs on Prime Country Channel 58 and is also available on demand through the SiriusXM app and Pandora NOW for listeners with a standard SiriusXM subscription.
Honoring America’s Heroes at the Opry
Brown’s June broadcast also comes on the heels of several meaningful Grand Ole Opry appearances during National Military Appreciation Month.
As part of The Grand Salute to the Troops, Brown helped honor America’s service members and veterans on the Opry stage. One of the most powerful moments came when he shared the stage with Medal of Honor recipient Donald “Doc” Ballard, whose heroism in Vietnam included throwing himself on a grenade to save fellow soldiers. Ballard also received three Purple Hearts for his service.
“Sharing the stage with Medal of Honor recipient Donald ‘Doc’ Ballard was a meaningful moment for me,” Brown said.
Days later, Brown joined Billy Ray Cyrus at the Opry during Memorial Day Weekend for a performance of “Some Gave All,” continuing the tribute to the nation’s heroes.
“It was an honor to stand alongside men and women who have given so much for this country,” Brown said. “Moments like that remind me why music matters — it brings people together, helps us remember, and gives us a way to say thank you.”
Still Touring, Still Telling Stories
Brown continues to tour throughout the year, with upcoming stops in Indiana, Missouri and Alabama, including appearances with Lorrie Morgan and The Malpass Brothers.
For fans of country music, LIVE WIRE offers more than nostalgia. It is a reminder that great songs do not really age. They gather stories, pick up memories and wait for the next listener to turn up the volume.
This month, with T. Graham Brown and John Conlee leading the way, that is exactly what SiriusXM listeners will get.
