The Tide Has Turned: Why Trump’s Immigration Stance Is Crushing It in the Polls—and Democrats Can’t Escape the Backlash

This piece is focused on analysis not advocacy, given my own strong opinions on the topic.  Anyone who believes President Trump is imposing his views over the strenuous objection of the majority of the public is simply living in a fantasy world.  This is a fact, not an opinion.  For those who agree with the President, this is welcome news.  For those who disagree with him, pretending otherwise is nothing but wishful thinking.

Don’t believe me?  Take a quick gander at the polling.  A recent poll showed Republicans were trusted more than Democrats by eight points.  In 2020, Democrats were preferred by 32 points.  That is 40 points of movement!!

You can almost hear Democrats and their public relations arm (linear corporate media) saying: “Well, that sending in the troops will turn the numbers around.  He has gone too far.”  Guess again.  By a whopping 59-39 margin, Americans “approve Trump’s National Guard deployment.”

Ronald Reagan was fond of saying he worried more about followership than leadership.  He understood his ability to put his policies in place rested largely with his ability to gain and retain the support of American voters.  You see, he did not toss around the notion of democracy as a talking point.  He lived it.

Not only is President Trump winning, but Democrats and the corporate media are so vested in failed policies that they are limited in their current options.  As someone who has been doing things political for half a century, I will attest fewer things are more fun than when it is 60-40 your team, and the other team cannot do much about it without having their base erupt in anger.  From first-hand experience, I can tell you being the 40 is no damn fun.

Review how the Democrats have responded to the President’s efforts to remove illegal immigrants, starting with those who have committed crimes in the United States (after their illegal entry) and/or committed the offenses in their own country.

It may send a tingle down the legs of the Democrat base and their cheerleaders in the media when one of their lesser-known U.S. Senators flies to Latin America to share a drink with a MS-13 gang member with a record, including wife beating, because he had not received his definition of due process, thinking the public will applaud.  Oops.  After first leaving him in his home country, this charmer has returned to the United States.  Tennessee is prosecuting the lad for human trafficking.

Now we have actual riots in Los Angeles.  In the face of the polling numbers cited, what does Congresswoman Nanette Barragan (D-CA) have to say about all of this?  If ICE and the National Guard would just leave Los Angeles, you would see this all die down.  Read the room.  What you are arguing is that if President Trump stands down, the problem goes away.  The American public sees this very differently.  By tremendous margins, they are saying my side is the one that wants to see our laws enforced on immigration versus those who are saying a crackdown on immigration is not justified.

Try as they will, the corporate media is urinating up their legs when they try to turn these “protests” into goodness and virtue, combating evil and awful. The American public has decided that it is high time for our written laws and the safety of the American public to be put ahead of anyone’s political agenda.  They are saying it is okay to constitutionally remove those who are illegally in the United States, and telling us otherwise is BS.

Common Sense:  President Trump is winning on immigration.  Democrats and the media are losing.  Feeding their base is a loser.  So is abandoning it.  At this point, Republicans are winning and Democrats are losing, with no good way out for Democrats.  Life’s a bitch.
