Army Crushes 2025 Recruiting Goal Early as Patriotism Surges

As the U.S. Army celebrates its 250th birthday, it has another reason to stand tall: surpassing its 2025 recruiting goals four months ahead of schedule. After years of falling short, the Army has signed contracts with over 61,000 future soldiers—more than 10% above last year’s target—and daily contract rates are up as much as 56% from 2024.
Army Secretary Dan Driscoll credited dedicated recruiters and drill sergeants for the turnaround, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pointed to a new wave of patriotism and a cultural shift toward strength and readiness. The success follows a series of reforms designed to modernize recruiting, including expanded talent pipelines, new tech tools, and a broader Future Soldier Preparatory Course.
With fewer than 30% of American youths meeting enlistment qualifications, this victory represents a hopeful sign for the military’s future—and a timely boost as the Army enters its next quarter-millennium of service.
