Lost Nazi-Looted Painting Discovered in Argentine Real Estate Listing

After decades of mystery, a painting looted by Nazis during World War II was discovered in the unlikeliest of places—a real estate listing. The 18th-century oil painting, Portrait of a Lady by Vittore Ghislandi, was spotted hanging in an Argentine home linked to descendants of a Nazi party official. The tip set off a series of police raids in Mar del Plata, ultimately leading to the recovery of the work and its transfer to authorities. For the heirs of Dutch art dealer Jacques Goudstikker, whose collection was stolen during the war, this represents one small but powerful victory in the ongoing fight to reclaim thousands of treasures lost to history.
