School districts across the country are alerting parents to a new TikTok challenge where students intentionally damage district-issued Chromebooks for social media attention. Districts, including those in Osceola County, Florida, stress that students caught participating will face severe consequences, including financial responsibility for damages, suspension, and even criminal charges. Educators are reminding families that these devices are essential learning tools and that such destructive behavior disrupts education and creates unnecessary costs. School officials urge parents to talk to their children about the dangers of these viral trends before it’s too late.
